Lavender is an incredibly fragrant and beautiful plant, with a rich purple hue that will add charm to any outdoor space. But like all plants, lavender requires proper care to flourish. Here are some tips to ensure that your lavender stays healthy and vibrant.

1. Sunlight: Lavender thrives in full sun – 6 or more hours of direct sunlight per day is ideal. Choose an area that gets plenty of sunshine, such as a sunny window sill or garden plot, to maximize your plant’s growth potential.

2. Soil: Lavender needs well-drained soil, so make sure you use a potting mix specifically formulated for growing lavender. It should be light and fluffy so that water can quickly drain away from the roots. If you're planting outdoors, choose an area with sandy soil to promote good drainage.

3. Water: Once established, lavender does not need a lot of water – in fact, overwatering can lead to root rot and other problems. Let the soil dry out between waterings – if it feels moist below the surface but dry on top, it’s time for a drink! Aim for about 1 inch of water per week during active growth periods and adjust according to climate and weather conditions.

4. Pruning: Lavender responds well to pruning and it helps keep the bush shapely and full of blooms! Prune your plants after they flower – trim back stems by one-third using sharp pruners or shears and discard any dead or dying foliage. Pruning also encourages new growth and flowering in future seasons!

With these tips in mind, you’re sure to have lush, healthy lavender for many years to come!
